A patient's language can be selected in Family File. You can have up to 100 languages.
Note: It is recommended that you put the most common languages at the top of the list for ease of use when you are selecting a language to attach to a patient's record.
To customize Language Category
In the Practice Definitions dialog box, in the Definition Type list, select Language Category.
The corresponding definitions appear in the list to the right.
Do any of the following:
If there are fewer than 100 definitions, to add a definition, do the following:
Click Add.
Note: This button is available only if there are not already 100 languages.
The New Language Category dialog box appears.
To select a language code and name pair as defined by the ISO 639 standard, do the following:
Under ISO 639-2 Alpha-3, click Search.
The Select ISO 639 Language dialog box appears.
To search for a language by name, begin entering a name in the Find box. As you type, the first matching language is selected automatically.
In the list, select the correct language code and name pair.
Click OK.
Note: To remove the selected language code and name pair, click Clear.
Do one of the following:
With an ISO 639-2 Alpa-3 language selected, click Use ISO Code Name to insert the standard name for the language into the Description box. Then, edit the text in the Description box as needed (which can be up to 50 characters in length).
Without an ISO 639-2 Alpa-3 language selected, enter a language in the Description box (up to 50 characters in length).
Click OK.
Note: The new definition is added in the first available spot (if there are no gaps in the sequence, it will be the last item) and given an ID.
To edit a definition, do the following:
Select a definition.
Note: Changing the definition for a language affects all patient records that have that language attached.
Click Edit.
The Edit Language Category dialog box appears.
Change any of the following options as needed:
ISO 639-2 Alpha-3 - To select a language code and name pair as defined by the ISO 639 standard, do the following:
Under ISO 639-2 Alpha-3, click Search.
The Select ISO 639 Language dialog box appears.
To search for a language by name, begin entering a name in the Find box. As you type, the first matching language is selected automatically.
In the list, select the correct language code and name pair.
Click OK.

Description - Do one of the following:

To delete a definition, do the following:
Select a definition.
Click Delete.
A confirmation message appears.
Click Yes.
